"Veronika Decides to Die" by Paolo Coelho

I finally finished the book I’m reading - “Veronika Decides to Die.” In summary, she got bored with life, and decided to commit suicide.  The attempt failed and so she was checked in a mental hospital. There she found her real passion ( to play the piano ) and met the real love of her life - Eduardo ( the ambassador’s son ) who also checked in the hospital due to schizophrenia.  He was really not insane, just forced to become one because his diplomatic parents couldn’t take that he wanted to be a painter and not follow their footsteps).

After Veronika found her life’s purpose and real love, she was freed from any desire to die and this was replaced with extreme desire / will to live.

The book also touched on "Vitreol" or bitterness in humans as the main culprit for madness and negativity/loss of hope.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck: A Book Review

I have been meaning to read this book for some time now but it has been a challenge to find it in Philippines bookstores.  Today I got lucky, I found one at Fully Booked, Greenhills, San Juan. I tried to read few pages to see if it’s worth buying and stocking at my already too crowded with books room - and first few lines told a story about a drunken loser, gambler, whose life plan is to become a writer.  How can I resist?  How can I possibly resist? Probably it’s nature’s way to tell me the book is one of those I can’t miss in this lifetime.  I have decided to purchase it.  I have so far read 9 pages at Jco donut and coffeeshop and already laughing my way to next brewer coffee and almond donut. I love the author’s humour and realistic approach to life.  It’s funny and very informative at the same time. *will update this review as I read along
